Previously on That NBA Lottery Pick, we featured a story about San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker getting rejected from a Memphis restaurant called “Iris Restaurant” in person because it was too full.
Apparently, Parker has now come forward stating that story was one of fiction and that he was never at the restaurant to begin with.
Mike Monroe of the ExpressNews.com got the official quote of Tony P:
“I was in my hotel room eating room service with my girlfriend,” Parker said on Sunday. “She’s my witness. I don’t know what is going on with that, man. I did not do that. Can you stop doing promos? That is a new way of doing promotion now, using my name?
“It’s definitely false. I don’t know why you (media) keep fueling that. I guess he’s going to have a lot of people now going to his restaurant because you guys keep talking about it.”
Memphis restaurateur Kelly English (head chef at Iris) who originally stated that Parker was denied service has back-tracked on those comments stating that the hotel that Parker was staying at called to see if there was any availability and was told there was none.
