With Hannukah coming up, the Houston Rockets are going to be taking a page out of the torah and before Tuesday’s game against the Detroit Pistons will hold a rather huge gathering to light the menorah.
We get more from The Houston Chronicle:
The religious group’s historical connection to basketball continues today, with courtside Hanukkah celebrations. Hundreds of Jews in Houston are expected to attend events like a menorah-lighting at Tuesday’s Rockets game and a holiday-themed dunking showcase.
“Basketball is a part of the Jewish community,” said Gillian Richter, the coordinator of children’s programs at the Houston Jewish Community Center.
I’m guaranteeing you now, the first dunker to celebrate using a yamika will win the competition.
