Rick Carlisle has seen his share of all-time great players. He was once a teammate of Larry Bird’s and he’s watched guys like Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan dominate the league.
So what he said is a bit of an eye-opener considering that the man he was talking about is still currently playing in the league.
From Dave McMenamin of ESPN:
Dallas' Rick Carlisle on LeBron: "There's no doubt that we're looking at one of the 5 best players ever to play in the NBA"

Putting LeBron James in the Top 5 of all-time in NBA history is a bit early in my view; I’d rather wait for the man’s career to be over with. But LeBron James IS a four-time MVP and has won two championship rings. He has routinely been the best player in the league in probably the last five to seven years. After LeBron calls it a day, he very well could be a Top 5 player of all-time in the eyes of many.
I just feel that it’s a little too early to say something like this.
