In one of the more intriguing offseason decision, Pau Gasol decided to sign with the Chicago Bulls instead of staying with his former team, the Los Angeles Lakers.
Recently, Gasol spoke with the Washington Post’s Michael Lee about going to the Bulls and talked about the decision he had to make leaving the Lakers.
During the interview, Pau noted that he believed that Kobe Bryant wanted him to stay in Los Angeles and for both of them to retire together:
“He wanted to pretty much retire together,” Gasol said of Bryant. “That was an attractive option. One part of me wanted to stick with him and try to turn it around. But deep inside of me, I felt it was time after everything that I’d been through that I wanted to put myself in a position where I was highly stimulated. Kind of change directions a little bit, fresh start and get going again.”
Sometimes a fresh start is something that we all need!
