Recently, New York Knicks president Phil Jackson noted during a Knicks media day interview that he believes that New York Knicks guard J.R. Smith was comparable to Dennis Rodman in some ways.
As you might figure, word got to J.R. about the comment and it appears that Smith decided to embrace the comparison with the legendary rebounder as noted by the New York Daily News:
“Last time I checked Dennis Rodman’s got what three, four rings?” Smith said Tuesday about the Worm, who actually won five NBA titles with the Pistons and Jackson’s Bulls during his career. “I’m not offended by that. It’s an honor. He’s a Hall of Famer. And to be put in the same words as a Hall of Famer is something special. So I’m not offended at all.”
Folks, let J.R. be J.R.!
