Dallas Mavericks Jason Terry To Raffle Off Championship Ring

Earlier this week, the Dallas Mavericks received their rings for winning the NBA championship last season and guard Jason Terry has decided to let a lucky Mavericks fan get a chance to win their own.

Terry had two rings made, one for himself and the other that will be raffled off:

Terry said all proceeds from the raffle will go to his foundation and will be used to help his youth girls' basketball team - the Lady Jets - travel later this year to China.

“Everybody can get in,'' Terry said. “Some lucky person is going to win it. “I'll let it run for a month and see what happens.''

Tickets can be purchased at Jason Terry's foundation website and each ticket costs $10 dollars.

Utah Jazz App Accidentally Tells Fans They Won Free Tickets

For the NBA fan, there is nothing better than winning free tickets to see their favorite NBA team in action but a blunder by one NBA team left fans thinking they had won free tickets to only have them be informed it was a mistake.

Last week, the Utah Jazz had a technology snafu happen when their Utah Jazz application for mobile devices accidentally sent out a notification to fans that they had won free tickets to see the Jazz play the Dallas Mavericks last Thursday.

Below is the Jazz's statement from their website apologizing for the mistake made along with offering compensation in the form of entry into the next free ticket contest and complimentary tickets for the Salt Lake Bees minor league baseball team:

Heat guard Mario Chalmers finished up a child support deal which reveals that his 20-month year old daughter is named, "Queen Elizabeth":

Miami-Dade County records show the four-year veteran guard was found to be the father of a 20-month-old Kansas girl who bears the beautiful first and middle names of Queen Elizabeth.

Chalmers, 25, who played his college ball at the University of Kansas, agreed to a $2,600-a-month child support and pay the mom, a student, arrears totaling $12,800.

The New Jersey Nets power forward/E! star has called it quits with Anderson Public Relations, TMZ confirms, following disagreements between the company and the Humphries over how to best promote the latter off the court.
The PR team was especially upset with how Humphries handled an appearance on Good Morning America in December, where he brushed off questions about Kim Kardashian and looked confused about why they were even being asked. He instead talked about baking with his mom.

A source close to Humphries tells the site, "Kim told Kris how, where and when to propose, it was absolutely no surprise to her whatsoever ... Kim looked so surprised but she knew it was happening."

While Humphries reportedly had ideas on how he wanted his proposal to unfold, the source claims that his wishes were quickly dismissed by the producers behind "Keeping Up With The Kardashians."

"Kris proposed in the middle of the day, and he had to do that because it would create better lighting to capture the moment," the source says. "Kris wanted it to be very intimate and romantic, but all of his ideas were shot down by production officials and Kim."

Secret Service Claim Delonte West Wasn't Banned From White House

Previously on That NBA Lottery Pick, we featured a story about Mavericks guard Delonte West being apparently banned from going to the White House with the Mavericks to celebrate last years title and his Twitter freak out.

The folks over at the Secret Service are stating that West wasn't banned from the celebration and could have taken part if he chose too:

Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan said West could have taken part. West inferred in his remarks to the newspaper that he couldn't attend because of his weapons conviction in 2010.

So, it appears to have just been a big old misunderstanding and hopefully, Delonte will get to go to the White House in a future visit.

Blake Griffin Regrets Creating "Lob City" Nickname

After getting guard Chris Paul in a trade, video cameras caught Clippers star Blake Griffin creating the term, "Lob City".

During a recent interview with ESPN Los Angeles Arash Markazi, Griffin states that he regrets creaing the name as he meant it as a joke:

In a city that thrives on entertainment and excitement, there may be no better show right now than "Lob City," an endearing nickname that accurately describes this team's most exciting play and one that the Clippers have actually grown to despise.

"It's unfortunate," Griffin said. "It's one of those things where we understand it, but that's not what we're about. Before the game we're not going out thinking, 'All right, its Lob City tonight.' We're just trying to win games and trying to get better."

It was Griffin who famously coined the phrase when a camera crew caught him uttering the nickname as he chest-bumped Jordan after he heard the news Paul would be traded to the Clippers. He now wishes he would have never said it.

"If anybody says it in [the locker room], it's just a joke, making fun of the whole thing," Griffin said. "It's not on our minds at all."

The Dallas Mavericks are set to visit the White House on Monday but sadly teammate Delonte West will be unable to attend.

Why you may ask? West's previous weapons charges will prevent him from entering the oval office as he told the Star-Telegram:

“I’m banned from going to the White House, so I’m not going to make it,’’ West said after tonight’s 96-81 win over the New Orleans Hornets. “But I’m going home to D.C., I’m just not allowed to go to the White House.

“That’s what happens when you make bad decisions in your life. You can’t go to the White House.’’

After making those remarks, Delonte then decided to take to the world of Twitter and let his emotions out:

Well, a South Florida baker Althea Hickmen is not pleased with Lebron's camp because her birthday cake (seen above) that she made for the king did not live up to the standards of Lebron's crew:

So Hickman designed a Heat-red cake with edible gold dust and an edible crown on top.

But when she went online early on New Year’s Day, the photos tweeted worldwide were those of an ivory-colored rum cake with gold lion’s heads from Miami’s Divine Delicacies.

“I don’t even know where my cake went,” Hickman said. “I was mortified. They had me do it in the middle of the holiday crush and I hired additional people. Someone needs to pay.”

Galbut said James’ people decided Hickman’s work wasn’t fit for the king: “It just wasn’t what was expected. When LeBron’s people saw it, they just didn’t want to use it and decided to bring their own cake. I can’t tell LeBron James what birthday cake to eat. It’s LeBron James, for Christ’s sake.”

As the Cleveland Cavaliers lost to the Toronto Raptors in Canada yesterday, you might have wondered why reserve forward Samardo Samuels didn't play in the game.

Well as we learn from the Cleveland.com, Samardo didn't play because he lost his passport:

The reserve center did not accompany the club to Toronto for Wednesday's game against the Raptors because he was unable to get new travel documentation processed in time. He lost his Jamaican passport several weeks ago and he also had complications with his work visa.

"I'm going to chalk it up to youth and inexperience," head coach Byron Scott said. "Hopefully he learned his lesson and it never happens again."

Thankfully for Samardo, I don't think his contributions would have matter much in the 15-point blowout.

Well, it appears that Dennis Rodman has now entered the fray and will be the coach of a topless women's basketball team:

Dennis Rodman is bouncing back into basketball — this time as a coach for a topless women’s team he’s launching for Headquarters Gentlemen’s Club, the New York mammary mecca.

The NBA bad boy dreamed up the team after hearing that rival strip joint Rick’s Cabaret had launched a league with former Atlanta Hawk Spud Webb, who runs the Texas Legends, an NBA Development League team. Rodman is even challenging Rick’s Cabaret’s topless team to a charity game.

“I don’t know too many men that don’t like a good-looking woman running up and down around the court,” Rodman told Page Six. “You don’t have to have too much experience, just know how to throw the ball into the hole,” was his sterling advice to hopefuls.

The cake can feed 250 guests and Vanilla Rum was the flavor of choice (a wise decision, for sure). It was created with Swarovski Crystals and details were painted with edible 14k gold including the Lion sugar faces and topped with a custom made monogram LJ created by Miami Cake Monograms.

Recently during an interview with the Washington Post, Blatche made a comment that he is willing to go out there and leave his heart and soul on the court for the Wizards:

“I told my teammates I’m going to give you 100 percent out of me every game. I’m willing to die for this,” Blatche said.

Cleveland's Manny Harris Got Cut Because Of Freezer Burn On His Feet

In one of the more stranger injury stories that I've heard, Cleveland Cavaliers guard Manny Harris got cut from the squad due to getting freezer burn on his feet.

The most amazing part of the story isn't the injury itself but how Manny got the injury:

In November, Cleveland Cavaliers guard Manny Harris got into a Cryon-X machine on Nike campus in Beaverton, Ore. When he came out, he had a nasty freezer burn on the side of his right foot. Sources told CNBC that Harris got in with wet socks, which resulted in the freezer-type burn

“I saw the pictures of it and I said, ‘Oh, my god,’” Cavs coach Byron Scott told the News-Herald.

Unable to be seen by team physicians because the lockout was still in place, Harris reportedly tried to let it heal on its own. The burn set him back so much, he couldn’t compete for his job and was waived by the team last week when the Cavs decided to pick undrafted rookie Mychel Thompson over the former University of Michigan star.

Lakers Head Coach Mike Brown Is A Dungeon Master

If you had to guess which NBA head coach played Dungeons and Dragons as a youth, I'm pretty sure that Lakers head coach Mike Brown would be on the top of that list.

Brown recently revealed that he played the game in middle school and even went to the level of dungeon master:

At Sabin Middle School in Colorado Springs, Mike was the Dungeon Master for Dungeons & Dragons games, writing all the strategies and character descriptions because he thought his friends' penmanship was too sloppy.

Now that Brown is 41 and coach of the Lakers, not much has changed. He plays D&D with the younger of his sons, 14-year-old Cameron, and fusses over penmanship.
