Everyone knows that TNT sports Ernie Johnson is one of the most stand-up guys in sports journalism today. Johnson also had to deal with being diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2003. (For Ernie’s speech on fighting this disease, check this link)
One of the most infamous clips of Ernie goes back to early 80’s when Turner Sports was still its infancy stages. During what appears to be, a slam dunk contest in Atlanta against Ernie Johnson and Craig Sager on a kiddie hoop, birthed the nick-name “Elevator Ernie Johnson” which was seen a shirt he was wearing during the event.
Well, a company called “Homage Clothing” decided to re-do the shirt and make it available for sale. (You can buy it at this link) A portion of the proceeds will go to charity to fight against Lymphoma and find a way to cure the disease.
In the above video, you will see the clip of “Elevator Ernie” and a shout-out to Homage clothing that TNT did before game three of the Eastern Conference Finals.
