With the NBA offseason officially upon us, the one lingering question that happens to be on pretty much everyone’s mind is where Carmelo Anthony will be playing his NBA basketball next season.
One of the potential suitors is the Dallas Mavericks and recently, Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki stated in a radio interview with “Ben & Skin” on 105.3 The Fan that he would love for Carmelo to join the team:
If Carmelo would really love to come here,” Dirk says, “we’d love to have him.”
Later in the same interview, Dirk noted that despite the Mavericks having cap space, that doesn’t mean it’s a guarantee that Melo will sign:
“Cap space, obviously, hasn’t treated us nicely since the lockout year when we decided to go for cap space and didn’t really get the guys that we wanted,” Dirk says. “But that’s the risk you take if you have cap space. The free agent might decide to go elsewhere and that’s what happened so far. But we’re going to keep getting after it.”
In case you were wondering, the Mavericks are projected to have about 31 million dollars in cap space available to sign free agents.
