In recent history, professional sports championship rings have become some of the most gaudy and expensive rings on earth.
So, it’s not surprising when certain veterans on the Dallas Mavericks wanted owner Mark Cuban to shell out the big bucks to make these rings as the Mavs owner told 105.3 FM “The Fan”:
Cuban asked Dirk and Kidd how much they wanted him to spend on each ring. They said about $150,000-$200,000. Unfortunately for them, that couldn’t happen.
“I’m like, ‘OK, you do know the NBA has a limit on how much we can spend, right?’ And it’s not 150 grand, trust me,” Cuban said. “I’m not going to tell you the exact amount but it’s nowhere near. The NBA, because they don’t want salary cap violations, puts a limit on how much you can spend on any given ring for any player.”
