We all know that TNT analyst/NBA Hall-of-Famer Charles Barkley is never shy to give his opinion. Before the 2014 FIBA World Cup semifinals started, NBA TV asked Chuck for his opinion on who would come out on top of the tourney. Barkley didn’t hesitate to say that Spain would win it. Check the video:
Barkley went on to talk about the Dream Team and compared it to today’s version of Team USA. He makes excellent points. A lot of players from Spain’s roster are in the NBA; they do see Team USA’s roster ‘all the time’, according to Barkley. Plus Spain is home so that’s always a nice advantage.
Spain has the Gasol brothers, Ricky Rubio, Serge Ibaka, Jose Calderon, Juan Carlos Navarro, Rudy Fernandez, and Sergio Rodriguez. All of those guys have played in the NBA. That’s a deep team. There’s a reason why most people are saying it would be USA and Spain going at it in the Finals. And, yes, we can actually take Charles Barkley seriously in this topic.
The Spanish are playing France later on today in the quarterfinals.
