The young backcourt of the Washington Wizards had an interview recently with the Hang Time crew of NBA.Com. Paul Pierce revealed recently on why he chose the Wizards in the offseason. Turns out that his influence is already being felt.
The Hang Time crew asked Bradley Beal and John Wall how much of an impact Paul Pierce has made on the Wizards. Beal answered with this:
“I think I trash-talk a little bit more now. (Pierce has) been good. Just being able to learn from him. He’s a true vet. He knows what it takes to get to that level that we need to get to.”
Later in the interview, the Hang Time crew brought up the Cavaliers as they discussed about the argument of who had the better backcourt. Wall said that the trash-talking was fun while the crew joked, “Is that Paul Pierce’s influence?” Beal smiled.
If there’s an absolute difference between Paul Pierce and the departed Trevor Ariza, it’s definitely the attitude. Ariza doesn’t say much and does his job while Pierce would absolutely not stay quiet. Pierce has claimed to be the best player in the world when he won the 2008 NBA Finals MVP and has also said he was the best shooter in the world when he won the three-point shootout. Beal may be joking here but there’s no doubt that Pierce has already given that team an additional swagger.
