The Detroit Pistons Opening Night Introduction Were Awesome (Video)

As we near the beginning of 2012, let's take a look back at the opening game introductions for the 2011 Detroit Pistons.

The introductions have nearly everything: a choral performance, an epic Detroit Montage, and arguably the best public address announcer in John Mason:

Andray Blatche Is Willing To Die For His Teammates

Washington Wizards forward Andray Blatche is someone I'd like to describe as a passionate individual to say the least.

Recently during an interview with the Washington Post, Blatche made a comment that he is willing to go out there and leave his heart and soul on the court for the Wizards:

“I told my teammates I’m going to give you 100 percent out of me every game. I’m willing to die for this,” Blatche said.
It's always nice to see NBA players talk like this and hopefully the rest of the Wizards can live up to Blatche's live-or-die expectations.

Cleveland's Manny Harris Got Cut Because Of Freezer Burn On His Feet

In one of the more stranger injury stories that I've heard, Cleveland Cavaliers guard Manny Harris got cut from the squad due to getting freezer burn on his feet.

The most amazing part of the story isn't the injury itself but how Manny got the injury:

In November, Cleveland Cavaliers guard Manny Harris got into a Cryon-X machine on Nike campus in Beaverton, Ore. When he came out, he had a nasty freezer burn on the side of his right foot. Sources told CNBC that Harris got in with wet socks, which resulted in the freezer-type burn

“I saw the pictures of it and I said, ‘Oh, my god,’” Cavs coach Byron Scott told the News-Herald.

Unable to be seen by team physicians because the lockout was still in place, Harris reportedly tried to let it heal on its own. The burn set him back so much, he couldn’t compete for his job and was waived by the team last week when the Cavs decided to pick undrafted rookie Mychel Thompson over the former University of Michigan star.

Lakers Head Coach Mike Brown Is A Dungeon Master

If you had to guess which NBA head coach played Dungeons and Dragons as a youth, I'm pretty sure that Lakers head coach Mike Brown would be on the top of that list.

Brown recently revealed that he played the game in middle school and even went to the level of dungeon master:
At Sabin Middle School in Colorado Springs, Mike was the Dungeon Master for Dungeons & Dragons games, writing all the strategies and character descriptions because he thought his friends' penmanship was too sloppy.
Now that Brown is 41 and coach of the Lakers, not much has changed. He plays D&D with the younger of his sons, 14-year-old Cameron, and fusses over penmanship.

At least that’s what happened Friday, when Durant’s tweets caused traffic jams on a number of Oklahoma City streets.

In a series of messages posted on his verified Twitter account, Durant informed his more than one million followers he would be giving out shoes at various locations in Oklahoma City, including the Chesapeake Energy Arena, where the Thunder play.

“Aight I’m headed out in the van to spread some holiday hoop cheer in OKC,” Durant tweeted. “Meet up if u wanna make sure #basketballneverstops next yr.”

Durant then tweeted his four planned stops in separate tweets.
Hopefully, Santa Durant will make a visit to your house on this Christmas eve.....

Deron Williams Gets Grumpy When He Loses

For those of you who wondered what Deron Williams is like after a loss, Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News found out the answer during an interview about the Nets chances this season and the possibility that they might have a losing season:
The Nets, as currently assembled, aren’t prepared to satisfy Williams’ hunger for victory. Unless Dwight Howard walks through the practice facility doors before the season starts, Williams’ first full month with the Nets figures to be a nasty lesson in the franchise’s mostly inauspicious history.
“You don’t think I’ve thought about that?” Williams cut off the question.
So how would he handle losing?

“I don’t know. You guys are not going to like me, I know that. I get grumpy when I lose.”

Shawn Marion Would Like To Be Addressed As A World Champion, Please

Due to that whole NBA lockout thing, some might have forgotten that the Dallas Mavericks won the NBA championship last season.

Mavericks forward Shawn Marion would like to remind everyone that did indeed win the title and that he deserves to be called a World Champion:
“I want y’all to address me like that from now on — world champion,” Marion said.
Marion is upset that the national media has overlooked the defending world champion Mavs and don’t believe they have a chance of winning this season’s title.
“We’ve gotten to the point where everybody started overlooking us and talking about everybody else and I kind of got [upset] about it,” Marion said. “Y’all trying to take something away from us that we’ve worked hard for and we took.
“Everybody on this team has earned the right to be addressed as world champions, so everybody address us like that.”

Forbes Poll, Kris Humphries Is Most Hated NBA Player

Last year, Forbes magazine did a poll to determine who was the most hated NBA player and that turned out to be Miami Heat star Lebron James.

This year, they decided to do a new poll with the help of Nielsen Sports and the winner ended up being New Jersey Nets star Kris Humphries.

Some of you may ask, why? Here might be a couple reasons:
Humphries’ marriage to Kardashian was over – 72 days after it started. Then came the speculation: Was the marriage fake all along? Was Kim really caught in a nude Yoga session with a male instructor in their home? It’s all created enough tabloid fatigue for the public, when asked which player in the NBA they most dislike, now choose Humphries’ name before any other.

“He’s been on five magazine covers, all in a negative light,” says Stephen Master, VP at Nielsen Sports, which helped run the survey.  “It’s all so recent, he’s gotten all this publicity for something other than basketball talent.”
Other notable names on the most hated list included Lebron James, Metta World Peace, Tony Parker, and Lamar Odom.

For Kris, the most hated tag might already be catching wind as he was booed in New York last Wednesday during the Nets preseason game against the Knicks:
