Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian Get Spin-Off Reality Series

As it has been previously noted, Lamar Odom is married to Khloe Kardashian and has been a recurring character on the E! show, "Keeping Up With The Kardashians".

Well, the news is now out and we might be seeing more Khlomar in our future. We get more from Fox Sports:

Reality TV star Khloe Kardashian and her NBA player husband, Lamar Odom, are branching off the Kardashian family TV roots to star in their own reality show, Us Weekly reported Thursday.

The youngest Kardashian sister and Odom, 31, will star in an E! series reminiscent of the Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey MTV show "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica" — about their life as a couple.

"It shoots in the spring," an insider told the celebrity magazine of the upcoming series starring the Los Angeles Lakers forward and the 26-year-old, who also appeared in "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" and "Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami."

"They're so cute, playing off one another," another source said of the pair, who married in September 2009.
So, I guess you might as well, get your Tivo ready and just say that your recording them for the girlfriend/wife.

Wanna See A Ten Second Violation? Dwight Howard Got One On Christmas

During the Christmas day affair between the Boston Celtics and the Orlando Magic, Magic center Dwight Howard was at the line to shoot the second of his two free throws.

Doug Collins Blames Christmas Shopping On Recent 76ers Loss

Since most of us are still trying to get our Christmas shopping done, it's not surprise to me that NBA players and coaches are doing the same as well.

However, I never expected that it would be used as an excuse for a loss.

We get more from Off the Bench:

76ers coach Doug Collins has an interesting take on why his team may have been playing like The Walking Dead during a blowout loss to Chicago on Tuesday:

“I looked at our coaches and I said ‘our guys, they’re just not there tonight.’ For whatever reason, we just weren’t there. I don’t know if it was a couple nights in between games in the same city. And just guys… that time of the year where you’re out Christmas shopping and getting stuff taken care of,” Collins said. “It was like five strangers. I came into the time out and I said ‘guys, what are we running?’ I didn’t even know what plays we were running.”
So, I guess coach wasn't impressed when Spencer Hawes scored that sweet deal on that 55 inch plasma television, huh?

Phil Jackson/Lebron James/Doc Rivers Don't Like Christmas Day Games

For the NBA fan, Christmas Day is a pretty good day to say the least since you not only get open your presents but you get to watch a plethora of NBA games on the television.

Well, some of the players and coaches who are playing/coaching on Christmas Day aren't too thrilled about it.

We get more from ESPN Los Angeles and Pro Basketball Talk:

It's an annual holiday tradition: put the star on the tree and put the Los Angeles Lakers on TV.

And Lakers head coach Phil Jackson is tired of it.

"It used to be two teams," Jackson said. "It used to be Phoenix and L.A. and New York and Boston or New York and Philly or somebody on the East coast. Now I see that they have like six games on Christmas."

There are actually five games scheduled by the league this year -- the Chicago Bulls at the New York Knicks; the Boston Celtics at the Orlando Magic; the Denver Nuggets at the Oklahoma City Thunder; the Portland Trail Blazers at the Golden State Warriors; and the Miami Heat at the Lakers.

"I don't think anybody should play on Christmas Day," Jackson said. "Soccer teams don't play this time of year, they take a break. I don't understand it.
James and his Heat are in Los Angeles for a green Christmas and a game against the Laker, but he told the Associated Press he’d rather be home in South Beach.

“If you ask any player in the league, we’d rather be home with our families,” James said. “I think the people that even set the games up would rather be home with their family during this day. It’s not just a regular holiday. It’s definitely one of those days that you wish you could wake up in the morning with the kids and open up presents.”

Doc Rivers told WEEI that the NBA is saturating Christmas and making it too commercialized or something.

“I wish they would reduce the games on Christmas,” Rivers said Tuesday. “I thought it was more special when it was two games. Now they it’s up five games. I think that’s too many.”
Geez, what a bunch of Grinches but at least Dwayne Wade saves NBAville with this quote from TrueHoop,

Dwyane Wade says the trick is to just count your blessings, and celebrate another day: "We're blessed to be working on Christmas. But you make time, either the night before, or the day after. I'll be able to get a little Christmas time with my family. They'll adjust to my schedule. We'll be fine. To be in Los Angeles for Christmas ... it's not the worst thing. And I'll see my family in Miami when I get back home."
That's the spirit, Wade and good tidings to you as well....

Ron Artest Knows About Jesus Basketball Stat Line

If you have been reading this blog for awhile, you know that we have an interest on things that Ron Artest has on his mind.

After the Lakers lost to the Bucks on Tuesday, Artest decided to inform us of how Jesus Christ played the game of hoops:

We get more from The Basketball Jones:

“It happened in the past, it happened in the present, it happened in the future,” Artest said. “Not just for him. All players (get ejected). That happens a lot of times. You see guys get ejected. Rip Hamilton got ejected (recently) in Detroit. Bob Cousy got ejected … The only person who never got ejected was Jesus.”

Artest was asked if he had checked Jesus’ box scores.

“No ejections,” Artest said. “He was 10 for 10s, a lot of 20 for 20s (in shooting). Perfect from the free-throw line. Infinity rebounding stats.”
Huh, I wonder how Ron Artest knew that? Wait, a second could he be....nah that's impossible.

Amar'e Stoudemire, Fashionista?

As it has been well-documented, Amar'e Stoudemire likes to dabble in a little bit of everything.

One of those things might be women's fashion and Stoudemire has decided to start his own clothing line.

We get more from Style Bistro:

NY Knicks star Amar'e Stoudemire is hanging up his basketball jersey for a while and putting on something a little more stylish. Page Six reports that he has teamed up with fashion designer Rachel Roy to launch a clothing line. No, it won't be for men. In fact, it'll be part of her contemporary women's collection, Rachel Rachel Roy.

Amar'e first started appearing in fashion circles when Anna Wintour brought him as her guest to both Fashion's Night Out and the Tommy Hilfiger spring show in September.

Matt Bonner's New Balance Shoe Comes Apart During Game

San Antonio Spurs reserve Matt Bonner had a little shoe malfunction over the weekend against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Bonner's New Balance sneakers as evidenced in the above screen cap literally came apart at the seams.

We get more from Counter Kicks:

With about 10 minutes left in the second quarter, the bottom of Bonner’s NB basketball shoes ripped off and started talking. From the screen captured images CounterKicks took, it appears the glue which keeps the sole intact with the rest of the shoe let loose and resulted in Bonner making an intentional foul on the Memphis Grizzlies’ Zach Randolph to stop play.

Bonner said after the game:

“I’ve been hoping Converse would come through with a shoe deal, but they haven’t, so I just kind of wear whatever. I’ve been wearing Converse and throwing in some New Balance, but they did not come through for me tonight.”
I guess you can say now, the shoe didn't fit for Bonner on this day.

Shaq To Conduct The Boston Pops in "Sleigh Ride"

Tony Parker and Eva Longoria Have Some BBQ

Previously on That NBA Lottery Pick, we mentioned that Spurs guard Tony Parker had divorced his-then wife, Eva Longoria.

Well, due to some new knowledge, they might be on the mends.

We get more from The Gossip Center:

They announced their divorce earlier this fall, but Eva Longoria and Tony Parker were spotted dining together in Texas yesterday (December 14).

The “Desperate Housewives” babe reportedly caught a flight from Los Angeles to San Antonio to see her soon-to-be ex-husband and enjoy some down home cooking.

Tony and Eva met up at Rudy’s Country Store, though neither seemed too interested in being seen by the paparazzi- Tony ducked behind a post while Eva went incognito in a black hat and black top.

Donald Sterling Heckles Baron Davis and Other Clippers From Courtside Seat

This shouldn't be too surprising to a lot of people but sometimes NBA owners get on their players for not performing.

So when Clippers owner Donald Sterling decided to get on his players for their lack of play for the past and this season from his courtside seat.

This quantifies as news, I guess:

Sterling reportedly began the practice of chiding Clippers players from his courtside seat sometime last season, although Davis seems to be getting the worst of it this year. Sterling was quoted as saying to Davis, "Why are you in the game?" "Why did you take that shot?" and "You're out of shape!"

Despite the fact that Sterling may occasionally have a point about the conditioning and the shot selection, publicly chastising Davis for it probably isn't the correct course of action.

As you might imagine, Davis isn't exactly happy about the situation.

"There's nothing I can say," Davis said of being heckled by Sterling. "I have no comment on that. You just get to this point where it's a fight every day. It's a fight. You're fighting unnecessary battles. I'm fighting unnecessary battles."
If we learned anything from GI Joe, knowing is half the battle.

Lebron James Heckled By Browns Fans At Miami Restaurant

As previously mentioned, Lebron Wednesday continues as someone alerted us to this little nugget from the weekend.

It turns out that one Lebron James and his business manager, Maverick Carter, decided to go out for dinner at a Miami Italian restaurant on Saturday Night after beating the Atlanta Hawks. Even for Lebron James in Miami, he can't escape being heckled by Cleveland fans.

We get more from Food and Drink Digital:

So last Saturday after the Miami Heat beat the Atlanta Hawks for a fourth straight win, LeBron James and his best friend and manager Maverick Carter decide to go out to dinner at Myles Chefetz’s Prime Italian in Miami. You know the drill; you go to dinner with a good friend with good food, exchanging good memories, well not this time.

Much to LeBron James’ chagrin, the restaurant was filled with about 30 Cleveland Brown fans, who just happened to be in Miami to see their team play the Dolphins the following Sunday. And that’s when they say all hell broke loose.

The Cleveland Brown fans started a roar of chants yelling “traitor, traitor” throughout the restaurant. After just a few minutes of chanting, the Browns fans were asked to leave. So leave they did, the inside at least. No one said anything about not sticking around the outside of the restaurant. That’s when LeBron James was forced to have to sneak out of the restaurant to get back to his car to avoid another unpleasant encounter by the Clevelanders who were gathered outside and prepared to do some more heckling.
Whoever said that people forgive and forget, obviously wasn't talking about Cleveland Cavalier fans.

Lebron James Relates to Brett Favre...No, Not In That Way

We might as well call today, "Lebron Wednesday" as we will have two subsequent posts regarding Lebron James.

Before the Heat faced off against the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday, Lebron compared himself to a player who left Wisconsin for Minnesota.

We get more from ESPN True Hoop:

The Heat forward was asked before Miami played the Bucks on Monday night if he could relate to Brett Favre's bitter departure from Wisconsin three seasons ago.

"Brett [had] great years here in Green Bay, and any time a great competitor like that leaves, no one wants to see that, but they've done a great job of regrouping with Aaron Rodgers and I believe that Cleveland will do the same," James said.

Favre was traded to the New York Jets in 2008 after the Packers' franchise grew tired of the three-time NFL MVP's offseason indecision. James left Cleveland for Miami as a free agent this offseason in a one-hour TV special dubbed "The Decision."
We'll be keeping tabs just in case any cell-phone pictures come to light but for once a post about Brett Favre and Lebron James has a somewhat happy ending.

The Miami Heat Plane Had Issues Landing in Cleveland, Foreshadowing?

Well NBA fans, tonight is the night for Lebronageddon in Cleveland, Ohio as he will make his first trip back to take on his former squad.

The Miami Heat travel plans were kept hidden from members of the media but this little nugget got out when the team plane had issues landing at Cleveland Hopkins airport.

We get more from The Washington Post:

The Miami Heat experienced airplane troubles on their way to Cleveland for LeBron James' first game there since he left the Cavaliers.

Jackie Mayo, a spokeswoman for Cleveland Hopkins airport, says the crew of the Heat's plane reported a wing "flap issue" early Thursday as the aircraft was on its approach. An alert was issued at the airport and two fire trucks were sent out to the runway, which is standard procedure.

Mayo says the plane landed safely around 2:30 a.m.

Kyle Korver Not in NBA Jam, Looked For Himself Anyway

When EA Sports announced that they would be bringing back NBA Jam, many fans and players alike were excited about playing it.

For some players like Bulls reserve Kyle Korver, he was excited to see if he was in the game or not. Well, he isn't but he seriously looked.

We get more from the Chicago Tribune:
Kyle Korver was left out of the new “NBA Jam," but that didn’t stop the Bulls shooting guard from co-hosting a launch party for the basketball video game with Complex magazine on Tuesday at the PHLI store in Hyde Park.

Korver loves video games -- and it gave him an opportunity to promote his clothing line, Seer, at the urban retail store.

“I knew I wasn’t in it,” Korver said of the game. “But I looked (for myself) anyway.”

John Drew Used To Drive the NBA Lane, Now He Drives A Taxi

The lavish NBA lifestyle has claimed many a great athlete's pocketbook but some players have had worse luck than others.

Former NBA All-Star John Drew was a member of the Atlanta Hawks in the mid-1970's and most famously was banned from the NBA in 1985 based on the league's substance abuse policy. Today, he drives a taxi for a living.

We get more from Jocks and Stiletto Jill:

As I was checking out The OKC Thunder vs. New Orleans Hornets game, the announcer for the Thunder dropped a little jewel from the team’s recent trip to Houston. A few of the players jumped in a cab for parts unknown. Their driver was none other than former NBA player John Drew.

John Drew was the 7th pick by the Atlanta Hawks in the 1974 NBA Draft. He led the league in offensive rebounding his rookie season and was a two-time all-star for the Hawks. He was traded to Utah in 1982 for Dominique Wilkins.
If we have learned anything from this story, NBA players save your money or you might be the ones driving a taxi in the near future.

For me, it was a real pleasure to know and work with Leslie Nielsen. He was a consummate professional when the cameras were rolling. And during down time he was a notorious practical joker. He would often engage the casual acquaintance in what seemed to be a serious conversation while he manipulated a whoopie cushion causing that person to look around and try to figure out what exactly was going on. He did this to me the first time I met him when he started talking about the food they served on the set in disparaging ways and I got real quiet until I noticed he had his hand in his pocket on the device, which made me break out into a big grin as I figured out his antics. Making Airplane was a great experience for me and Leslie helped make it very special. He will be greatly missed.
