Lebron James Commercial For Dr. Dre's Power Beats

It's been widely known that Lebron James is wearer of Dr. Dre's Power Beats headphones and recently appeared in a commercial for them.

In the commercial, Dr. Dre and Lebron hit the gym where all they want to do is work out but Affion Crockett just wants chat about Lebron and Dr. Dre's recent short-comings:

Honestly, I Think Genghis Kahn Could Beat the 1997 Bulls

Most NBA video game fanatics are still waiting with eagerness for NBA 2K11 to drop on October 5th and the guys over at 2K sports are still churning out solid commercials.

In this one, Josh Smith/Rajon Rondo/Derrick Rose/Russell Westbrook and Andre Igoudala talk about the possible match-ups with the classic teams feature in this year's game:

Gregg Popovich Does Not Appreciate Your Question!

With the start of NBA training camps and NBA media days, it's time for those guys and gals with the tape recorders and microphones to get their practice in as well.

San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich decided to have a little fun with the media as he decided to go on a mini-tirade about the first question asked to him:

Dwight Howard, The NBA's Version of Raffi?

Normally if an NBA player put out a children's album, there would be much ridicule from his teammates and the rest of the association.

However if that player is Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard, no one is going to be cracking wise around him.

We get more from Pro Basketball Talk:

The album features him singing kid-friendly versions of arena staples. Helping Howard out are kids from the NBA Cares Read to Achieve program. Dwight, the NBA and the Orlando Magic will be helping promote the release all season long, particularly when Dwight is playing at home in Orlando (over 18,000 fans a night) and on the road.
All in all, it's a nice story and will benefit many families through the BETA center which deals with providing knowledge and support for healthy families.

All I have to say is Raffi better watch his back.

The Los Angeles Clippers "White Party" in Malibu

Recently, the Los Angeles Clippers held their annual "White Party" in Malibu, California where all the party goers dressed in all white.

Clippers center DeAndre Jordan decided to take a little video of the festivities and caught Jon Scheyer, Al-Farouq Aminu, and Eric Bledsoe cutting a rug:

Rick Fox's Second DWTS Dance: "The Jive"

For those of you that missed the second dance of former NBA player Rick Fox on Dancing with the Stars, we have that for you in the below video.

Rick and his partner, Cheryl Burke, are dancing a little thing called "The Jive" to the song, "Tush".

To be honest, that wasn't half bad.

Rick Fox Talks About Dancing With The Stars on "The Ellen Show"

As you can tell, I'm a huge follower of Dancing with the Stars and when a former NBA player is on it, it just helps the cause even more.

Former Laker Rick Fox and his dancing partner, Cheryl Burke, appeared on the Ellen show to talk about well....dancing and the obvious height difference.

Yep, that's pretty much it except for Rick Fox and Cheryl cutting a rug.

It hasn't been too surprising that there is still backlash from Lebron James taking his talents to Miami from the Cleveland faithful.

Lebron James Chillin with Warren Buffet?!?!?!

Normally, I'm not surprised when NBA players hang out with some random entourage members or fellow players from the same squad.

However, it's a little different when one Lebron James is chilling and playing a round of golf with famed business man and billionaire Warren Buffet.

We get more from Terez Owens:
Today I just got sent this pic of LeBron James riding in a golf cart with Warren Buffet…It looks like Warren is taking LeBron’s side in the whole free agency fiasco..Good to see LeBron rocking the Tiger hat..You know LeBron has to be picking the dude’s brain trying to figure out how to become a billionaire…good luck with that Bron Bron..-TO
To note, Buffet has been meeting with Lebron's BFF, Jay-Z as well, so it's not completely surprising that they would hanging out.

My real question is why is Lebron rocking the Tiger Woods hat? With the Q rating in the tank, I thought he would have started rocking Phil Mickelson apparel.

Deron Williams, Cliff-Diver?

When someone sends me a video of an NBA player cliff-diving, I usually take it with a grain of salt.

The below video appears to show Jazz guard Deron Williams doing a back-flip off of a relatively short cliff at Sand Hollow in Southern Utah:

Although the video is somewhat pixelated, it appears to be Deron and dare I say that it takes some pretty big cajones to do that.

The Chris Bosh/Justin Timberlake Bet To End All Bets

On Monday night's edition of the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, one of the guests was Justin Timberlake who was there to promote that Facebook movie-type thing.

Jay decided to talk about Justin's love-affair with the Los Angeles Lakers which I still can't decide if it's passionate or just plain creepy.

Well, Jay brought out Miami Heat star Chris Bosh to rile up Justin a bit and eventually it ended in a rather awesome bet:

I have a sinking suspicion that Timberlake will be sporting a Lebron James jersey to bed sometime soon...

Rick Fox's First Dance on Dancing With The Stars

As you can probably tell by the timing of this video, I'm not a huge fan of ABC's Dancing with the Stars.

However when former NBA player Rick Fox is on the cast, it's at least note-worthy enough to dedicate a post to it.

In the below clip, Fox dances with partner Cheryl Burke to the classic style of the Viennese Waltz:

NBA 2K11 Features Virtual Barack Obama Celebration

One thing that has been a constant in the National Basketball Association is that the NBA champions get to visit the White House to spend some time with the President of the United States.

Well, the developers from NBA 2K11 decided to create a victory cut-scene (seen above) where your Association team gets to meet Virtual Obama.

We get more from Pasta Padre:

Earlier this year it was discovered that Madden 11 added a visit with President Barack Obama as part of its presentation package in Franchise mode after winning the Super Bowl. 2K Sports is also including Obama as part of the NBA championship celebration in Association mode.

Surprisingly EA Sports took some misguided heat for the decision to include him, even though traditionally Super Bowl winning teams teams meet the President at the White House. It seemed that some wanted to turn the inclusion of Obama into a political statement when in reality it is simply about offering a cool moment as a reward for winning it all…just as those teams in real life get to experience
That's pretty awesome to say the least but the Clippers winning an NBA title; that can only happen in a virtual world.

Mark Cuban Thinks Lebron Made A Big Mistake

One person that we hadn't heard from regarding the Lebron James situation was Dallas Mavericks owner, Mark Cuban.

Well, last week in a radio interview with Sportsradio 1310, he discussed the matter publicly for the first time. Let's just say, he wasn't too kind on Lebron.

We get more from The Dallas-Morning News:

“LeBron has every right to go wherever and do whatever, whatever team he wants to," Cuban said. "Going to the Heat was his choice, those guys working together. I don’t even have a problem with the three of them working together, as long as they follow all of the NBA rules, which I think they did.

Where I think LeBron made a mistake, was in how he did it. I don’t even have a problem that he had the tv show. But it turned out to be the largest public humiliation in the history of sports. He humiliated the organization, he humiliated the state of Ohio , the city of Cleveland. All of a sudden he became a bad guy, he lost a billion dollars in brand equity, give or take a couple bucks here or there. ...
Oh well, I guess Mark will not be inducting Lebron into the Billionaire Boys Club, anytime soon.

Surprise! Lebron James Less Popular Than Before

As much as the world continues to pile on one Lebron James, we can now at least scientifically prove that he is less popular than before.

The individuals over at Q Score poll the general population on athletes and their attitudes toward them.

So how did Lebron do? We get more from Sports Grid:

LeBron James‘ popularity among fans has significantly and quantifiably decreased since his decision to sign with the Miami Heat, according to Darren Rovell. Rovell and CNBC got their hands on the newest results from the Q Score company, which polls the general population and gauges their attitudes on athletes.

Here’s what they found: The average Q score for an athlete is a 15 percent positive score and a 24 percent negative score. In January of 2010, LeBron James scored 24 percent positive and 22 percent negative. This was “the highest [they] had ever seen.”

LeBron’s score now? 14 percent positive (down 41.6 percent), 39 percent negative (a 77 percent increase). This makes him the sixth most-disliked athlete, behind Michael Vick, Tiger Woods, Terrell Owens, Chad Ochocinco and Kobe Bryant.
The news isn't particularly surprising but you would think that the hatred from Cleveland might have pushed him into the top 5 but I guess adultery/dog fighting/and the occasional touch-down celebration is more maddening.

Oh well, I guess Lebron can put more people on that list.

John Mayer's Promises Mean Nothing, Wears Dual Jersey At Miami Concert

Previously on That NBA Lottery Pick, we featured a clip of singer/song-writer John Mayer who promised Cleveland Cavalier fans that he would wear a Cleveland Cavaliers jersey to a Miami concert.

Well, that didn't exactly happen like he said it would. Mayer decided to keep both fans happy by wearing a dual jersey for both the Heat/Cavs.

We get more from the Palm Beach Post:
At his Cleveland concert in mid-August, the troubadour who is, or not, dating actress Jennifer Aniston, got the biggest rise out of the crowd not with his wishy-washy singing but by showing up for his encore with a Cleveland Cavaliers jersey and matching headband.

He said, obviously taking side against James’ move to the Miami Heat: “Our last show of this tour September 11 in Miami I’m going to come out on stage wearing this in Miami.” He also promised to “stir the pot.”

Later, much later in the show, he did come out with this hybrid: One half Cleveland Cavaliers jersey, one half LeBron’s Miami jersey!
Yep, Mayer decided to pull the old, let's not piss off any of my fans because I need to help my record-sales.

I guess that sexual napalm from Jessica Simpson is still affecting Mayer's brain.

Al-Farouq Aminu Gets His Geek On

Previously on That NBA Lottery Pick, we featured a video of late night host Jimmy Kimmel making fun of Clippers rookie Al-Farouq Aminu's draft day get-up.

Well, Aminu has cashed in on the look by inking an endorsement contract with Geek Eyewear:

We get more from The Rookie Wall:

Al-Farouq Aminu, one of the top players of the 2010 NBA draft, created a sensation at the NBA Draft on ESPN by wearing a fashionably outrageous pair of eyeglasses. Turns out the glasses were designed and manufactured by Los Angeles based GEEK EYEWEAR, a brand known for combining daring wit and sexiness to create instant attraction….eyewear that is memorable for the bold and beautiful.

“Geek Eyewear is not just for computer nerds and Sci Fi addicts” explains Alena Lehrer, who created GEEK EYEWEAR. “The line was developed to express an attitude.” Today’s geek is a complete individual, which is what I believe originally drew Farouq to GEEK EYEWEAR. Farouq is not the typical ball player: Aminu was a member of the 2008 McDonald’s All American Team and distinguished himself as one of the country’s best forwards. Off the court, Farouq has a great sense of humor and comes across as comfortable with who he is. Farouq’s charisma is a big part of his appearance, which explains his stand-out choice in GEEK EYEWEAR.
Man, the nerds are beginning the take-over of the NBA now. Couldn't they just be happy with Comic-Con and The Big Bang Theory?

Rajon Rondo Will Not Let You Choke Him

After watching numerous interviews with NBA players, I could have sworn that I have heard every possible question in the book.

"The Cameo", Lebron James To Cameo on The Cleveland Show

Just when you thought it was safe to watch a Fox animated comedy without the possibility of seeing Lebron James, you were so totally wrong.

Lebron will being appearing in a cameo role in an upcoming episode of Fox's animated comedy, "The Cleveland Show", in a basketball-related episode.

We get more from The Wrap:

James will appear with a whole host of other basketball stars in the episode "A Short Story and a Tall Tale," which features a Valentine's Day visit to the NBA All Star Game. Kevin Garnett, Dwight Howard, LeBron James, Steve Nash, Dirk Nowitzki, Shaquille O’Neal and Dwyane Wade are all guesting in the basketball-themed episode.
Finally, a completely new medium for Cleveland Cavalier fans to direct their Lebron hate towards.

Dennis Rodman Dirty Talk Broadcasted To Pool Party-Goers

Recently on That NBA Lottery Pick, we've discussed the antics of one, Dennis Rodman.

For those of you that do not know, the former Chicago Bull is currently working as a DJ for high-profiled celebrity parties. Rodman recently got into a little hot water at a Hampton's pool party when he decided to dirty-talk six ladies in his hotel room.

Only problem; he forgot to turn off his wireless microphone.

We get more from the New York Post:

Hamptons partygoers got to listen to a little Dennis Rodman lovemaking after he took six girls up to his bedroom with a cordless microphone switched on in his pocket.

Promoters at the Hotel Indigo in Hampton Bays were astonished when they heard Rodman talking dirty over the music at their pool party in the early hours of Monday morning.

A source told us, "Rodman had quite a lot to drink and had been making shout-outs on the mike. He headed up to his room with six girls. Then, the next thing you could hear through the speakers downstairs was Rodman describing in full sexual detail what he wanted to do to them. Organizers pulled the plug before it got any dirtier.
For some strange reason, I think Wilt Chamberlain might be channeling himself through Dennis Rodman. Those are some Wiltesque numbers to say the least.

For any of you that attend the pool party, feel free to e-mail us any of the details of Rodman's dirty talk at badnbapick@gmail.com.

Ron Artest in a Go-Kart, Ron Artest in a Go-Kart!

In one of the weirder stories that I've come across in dealing with the NBA, Ron Artest recently was pulled over by police for speeding.

What was he speeding in? A Go-Kart!

We get more from TMZ:

TMZ obtained this photo of the Los Angeles Lakers playoff hero getting pulled over Monday in something called an Eagle Roadster -- a custom vehicle with a top speed of 152 MPH.

Law enforcement sources tell us Artest was cited because the registration on the car was expired. But get this -- we're told the car isn't even registered to Ron ... but somebody out in Tennessee.

Ron -- who was smiling throughout the entire incident -- was eventually sent on his way ... but sources tell us cops were "very happy" he was wearing a helmet.
Honestly, it's nice to see that Ron Artest is living out his dream of becoming Speed Racer.

The Orlando Magic Would Like You To Flush Their Toilets

If you are in Orlando, Florida today and you hear the sounds of multiple toilets flushing at the same time, you can safely assume it's just from the Orlando Magic's New Amway Arena.

We get more from USA Today:

A massive toilet flush is set to take place at the new arena of the NBA's Orlando Magic.

The event Wednesday will test the Amway Center's sewer flows, water consumption and pressure. About 443 toilets will be flushed simultaneously.

Those expected to participate include Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, Magic President Alex Martins and dozens of elementary students. They will simulate the crowd rush to bathrooms during halftime and between quarters.

There are about 1,200 plumbing fixtures in the arena. That includes approximately 560 toilets, 430 sinks and 210 fixtures such as drinking fountains, showers and disposals.
Yep, somewhere from beyond the grave, Walt Disney is saying, "Huf, that's an average day at Disneyworld."

If Shaq Crashes Your Wedding, You Let Him!

Recently it's seemed that That NBA Lottery Pick has become "That Shaq Lottery Pick" with the recent bevy of Shaquille O'Neal related stories.

However, when Shaq decides to crash a wedding in Boston, I think that essentially counts as a great story for us.

We get more from NESN:
If Shaquille O'Neal wants to crash your wedding, he's going to crash your wedding. And chances are, he's not going to be too coy about doing it.

After all, he'll be that 7-foot bald guy in jeans and a T-shirt.

On Friday, Aug. 27, that's just what happened as Shaq wandered into the wedding ceremony of Kristen and Wes Schifone at the Four Seasons in downtown Boston, much to the delight of the newlyweds. Shaq didn't show off his epic moves on the dance floor, nor did he spit out some serious rhymes with the band, but it was a memorable visit to say the least.

"Considering it was someone of his stature, he was a total gentleman and just acted like one of the guys," the groom said from his Hawaiian honeymoon. "He accepted everyone's photo request and even remembered our names the next day and asked that we come down for a photo shoot with him for the [Boston] Globe."

The Big Crasher even showed up at brunch the following morning
I think we now might have to give Shaq the new nickname, "The Big Bruncher."

Ron Artest, Mental Health Awareness Spokesman

If you had to put money on an NBA player who would be a spokesman for mental health awareness, I'm pretty sure that Ron Artest would not be the person you would place a bet on.

However, Ron has decided to talk with kids about the mental health issue in California with current California senator, Grace Napolitano.

We get more from San Gabriel Valley Tribune:

Apparently, he has teamed up with Congresswoman Grace Napolitano (no, really, I'm serious) to raise awareness about mental health stigma's and advocate for the Mental Health in Schools Act, a.k.a. HR 2531.

Those who watched the Lakers beat the Celtics in this year's NBA Finals remember Ron thanking his psychiatrist in his post game comments.

Ron Ron and Grace Grace (not working for ya?) will be at Eastmont Intermediate School at 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept 9

Sorry sports fans, space is limited and they are only accepting those who R.S.V.P. first.
It's nice to see that Ron is not only talking about his issues with young kids and supporting the use of psychiatrists in certain situations.

Honestly, this post got a little real, so I'll break the tension with the Ron Artest/Helen Mirren clip:

The Orlando Magic Get A Sponsor For Their Parking Garage

The Orlando Magic will be moving into a brand-new arena for the upcoming season and when a new arena is built, many companies line up to get their name on the building.

The Magic have already gotten the insurance company, Geico, to get on board with some naming rights that will be used not on the arena but an adjacent parking garage.

We get more from ProBasketballTalk:
The insurance firm signed a five-year deal valued in seven figures annually. In turn, Geico receives naming rights to a seven-level parking garage being built next to the arena and a skywalk connecting the two buildings, said Magic President Alex Martins.

The city of Orlando owns the garage and shares in the revenue, Martins said. He would not disclose the split.
All in all, that's somewhat of a sweet deal for Geico but to spend all that money on the naming rights for a parking garage is pretty insane to say the least.

Shaquille O'Neal To Cameo in Adam Sadler Film, "Jack and Jill"

The last time that Shaquille O'Neal made a cameo in a movie was back in 2006 when he did a cameo in Scary Movie 4 as himself.

Well for those of you waiting for the Big Shamrock to be back on the big screen, you will enjoy the news that he will film a cameo in an upcoming Adam Sandler movie called, Jack and Jill.

We get more from The Wrap:

Famed New York Knicks fan Adam Sandler has drafted a division rival for his upcoming movie "Jack and Jill," as newly-acquired Boston Celtics center Shaquille O'Neal will appear as himself in the Columbia comedy, an individual familiar with the project has told TheWrap.

The Big Shamrock (if you will) is set to make "a very small cameo" in the film, which stars Sandler in dual roles as the titular twins and Katie Holmes as his wife.

The story finds Bronx resident Jill traveling to Los Angeles to spend Thanksgiving with Jack and his family ... and then refusing to leave, much to her brother's dismay.

The context of Shaq's brief appearance is being kept under wraps, but with Al Pacino also set to play himself, it's possible that the project could be littered with celebrity cameos since it's set in L.A.
Shaquille O'Neal and Al Pacino, how could this movie possibly fail?
